Who we are
Notary Practice Tests publishes this site and is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at contact@notarypracticetests.com for any privacy question or request.
What we collect
Practice data you create: the answers you select, the state and form you practice, timestamps, scores, and the questions you mark or report. For guests this stays in your browser.
Account data, if you create an account: your email address and the authentication details needed to sign in. Creating an account is optional and is not required to practice.
Question-quality signals, if you are signed in: which question you answered, whether the answer was correct or skipped, how long it took, and any question you report. These are stored under your user ID and used to find unclear or faulty questions.
Messages you send: the text and any email address you provide through the Contact form.
Basic technical data that any web server receives, such as your IP address and browser type, used to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not build advertising profiles from it.
How we use your information
To provide the site: deliver practice questions, restore your session, and produce score and topic results from your answers.
To run accounts and any future purchases: sign you in, keep your progress in sync, and maintain an access period if you buy one.
To answer you: reply to corrections, questions, and requests sent through the Contact page.
To improve the questions: review aggregated, non-identifying results to find questions that are unclear or too easy to guess, and revise or withdraw them.
To protect the site: detect abuse, fraud, and violations of the Terms of Use.
Practice data in your browser
Your answers, scores, and topic results are stored in your browser’s localStorage so a session can be restored and scored. This data stays on your device unless you sign in to a cloud account and choose to sync it.
Accounts and cloud sync
If account sign-in is offered and you use it, your email and password are sent to our authentication provider, Supabase, and your signed-in progress is stored under your user ID and protected by row-level access rules so other users cannot read it. After you sign in, the site can upload the practice records saved in your browser to your account; local records are removed only after the cloud save succeeds.
Payments
Paid access is a one-time purchase. Checkout and card processing are handled by a third-party payment provider, Creem, which acts as the merchant of record. We do not receive or store your full card number or banking details. The price is $19.90 per state for one year.
For a purchase, the provider would share limited order information with us, such as the order ID, amount, currency, status, the state purchased, and country, so we can unlock the right access and handle refunds.
Feedback and contact messages
When you send a correction or message we receive the text you write and the email address you choose to provide, and we use it only to answer you and review the content. Please do not include passwords, payment-card numbers, or confidential client documents.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the site: a hosting and content-delivery provider to serve pages, an authentication and database provider (Supabase) if you use an account, and a bot-protection provider (Cloudflare Turnstile) on forms when it is enabled. Each processes data only to provide its service. We do not sell your personal data.
When we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
We share information only with the service providers listed above, when the law or a court order requires it, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to protect our rights or the safety of others.
If the site is acquired or merged with another organization, your information may transfer with it. We would give notice on the site or by email before it becomes subject to a different privacy notice.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site uses browser storage for the practice features described above and a session token if you sign in. It does not load advertising or third-party tracking scripts and does not load external fonts.
How long we keep data
Guest practice data stays in your browser until you clear it; the browser keeps up to 100 attempts per state.
Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed, normally within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
Payment records, if purchases are introduced, are kept as long as reasonably needed for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution purposes.
Contact messages are kept while we resolve them and for a reasonable period afterward, then deleted. We may keep anonymized, aggregated statistics, such as how often a question is missed, because they cannot identify you.
Your choices
You can clear your browser data at any time to remove local practice records. If you have an account, the Account page lets you export your browser and cloud records, clear local history, delete cloud practice history, change your email or password, and permanently delete your account. For anything the Account page does not cover, use the Contact page.
California residents
If you live in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share; to ask us to delete it, subject to legal exceptions; and not to be treated differently for using these rights.
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so the right to opt out does not apply in practice. To make a request, contact us through the Contact page or at contact@notarypracticetests.com. We respond within 45 days.
Users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
You have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
We process account and practice data to provide the service you asked for (contract), we process security and content-quality data for our legitimate interests in running a safe, accurate site, and where we ask for your consent you can withdraw it at any time.
Where data is processed
Our hosting, authentication, and database providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. If you use the site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and stored in those countries, and by using the site you accept that transfer as described in this notice.
External links
Links to official sources open third-party websites that have their own privacy practices. Those sites receive normal browser requests when you follow a link.
Children
The site is intended for adults preparing for notary commissions and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold, including transport encryption and access controls on account data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes and questions
We may update this notice as the site changes. The version date at the top shows the latest revision, and where practicable we will tell account holders about material changes by email or a notice on the site. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised notice. For privacy questions or requests, use the Contact page or write to contact@notarypracticetests.com.
